DENVER - Governor Bill Owens today announced the appointment of two new members to the State Examining Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists: Bruce E. Gordon of Craig and Kelly Ann Wharry of Highlands Ranch.
"Bruce and Kelly have a great deal of experience and will serve the citizens of Colorado well in their new positions," said Gov. Owens.
Bruce Gordon owns and operates a barbershop in Craig, Colo. Gordon has been a barber for 33 years and served on the State of Alabama Barber Board for six years. He also served as the president of the Mobile (Ala.) County Barber Board for three years.
Kelly Wharry owns and operates a salon, and is a cosmetologist. Wharry received her cosmetology degree from Roffler Academy in Lakewood.
The State Examining Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists licenses barbers, cosmeticians, manicurists, instructors, salons, schools and training programs. The Board also conducts examinations, inspections and complaint investigations. It consists of five members who serve three-year terms.
