Governor to attend State Fair in Pueblo on Friday and Saturday, August 27-28
DENVER – Governor Bill Owens will meet with a delegation from Mexico, tomorrow, Friday, August 27, 4:00 PM, at the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo. The majority of the delegation is from the City of Chihuahua in Chihuahua, Mexico, which is Pueblo's Sister City.
The Mexican delegation from Chihuahua includes Patricio Martinez, Governor of Chihuahua; Leoplodo Mares, Secretary of Commercial Development and Tourism; and Francisco Uranga, Secretary of Industrial Development. The delegation from Puebla, Mexico includes Alberto Ochoa, Secretary of Tourism; and Jose Zarain, Director of Economic Development.
"It is a great pleasure to welcome Governor Patricio Martinez and his entire delegation to Colorado," said Gov. Owens. "Strengthening our ties with Mexico, our closest international trading partner, is an important goal of my administration."
The delegation will be meeting with various Colorado dignitaries and business leaders. Also on the agenda is the discussion of a new cement plant in Pueblo. Cementos de Chihuahua, the second largest cement producer in Chihuahua, Mexico, plans to begin construction on a new plant by the end of this year. The company's new plant in Pueblo will be the second largest in Colorado, producing one million tons of cement, employing up to 200 people.
Governor Owens will also be in Pueblo tomorrow, Friday, August 27th, through Saturday, August 28th, for the Colorado State Fair:
