COBRA

- COBRA Open Enrollment is April 21 - May 16, 2008.  This is for current COBRA enrollees or those who will soon be COBRA enrollees.
- COBRA Open Enrollment will not be electronic.  If you are changing plans, you must download, fill and send in the FY09 COBRA Open Enrollment Form to the right.
- IMPORTANT NOTE:  OA-30 option WILL NOT be offered in FY09.  Those enrolled in OA-30 who want COBRA coverage in FY09 MUST choose another plan during COBRA Open Enrollment.
- Review the new FY09 COBRA Medical / Dental Premiums to the right.
- Review the new FY09 Medical Plan Info to the right.  There are significant changes.
-
If you will change your COBRA coverage, your FY09 COBRA Open Enrollment form must be received by DPA by May 16, 2008.
- Enrollment is for the FY09 Plan Year (7/1/08 - 6/30/09).
- Former University of Colorado employees, or their dependents, should access CU's benefit system here.

The Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA) allows employees and their covered dependents to continue group health coverage under certain circumstances.

  • Coverage for active, State employees, and/or their dependents, continues through the end of the month in which the COBRA qualifying event occurs (termination, retirement, divorce, etc.).  The COBRA eligibility period begins on the first of the month following the end of active employee coverage.

  • Your COBRA coverage will become effective once your first premium is paid.  Coverage will then be retroactive to your initial COBRA eligibility date, provided your enrollment form was timely.
