Governor & First Lady Host Second Annual Garden Party at the Governor's Residence

Gov. Bill Ritter and First Lady Jeannie Ritter recently played host to more than 200 patrons and supporters of the Governor's Residence during the second annual Garden Party. The event is one of several on-going efforts led by the First Lady to raise funds for the preservation of Boettcher Mansion, the official residence of the Governor and First Family.

"This beautiful facility is such a tremendous asset to Colorado and a symbol of the richness of our state's history and diversity," said Mrs. Ritter. "It's a great privilege to live here and very humbling to work with so many wonderful partners and supporters who share my commitment to preserving this place for future generations."

Built in 1908, the Governor's Residence at Boettcher Mansion has served as home to Colorado's sitting Governor and the First Family since 1959. The 2006 renovation of the original Carriage House, and additions of the Tebo Visitors Center and Viki and Jack Thompson Gardens, have brought this stately home to a new level of beauty and service for the people of Colorado.

The Residence is open and free-of-charge for regularly scheduled tours and special public events. Non-profit organizations, government offices, corporations, and individuals may use the Residence or Carriage House, for a fee, to host private events.

The GRP Fund was founded by First Lady Jeannie Ritter to provide a foundation for the support, preservation, and promotion of the Governor's Residence, which she now calls "Colorado's Home." The fund just completed a year-long Centennial celebration in observance of the Mansion's 100th Anniversary.
