The Colorado Household Survey was conducted in 2008-2009. Information was collected by telephone (cell phones and land lines) from a random selection of households in Colorado. Information includes access to health insurance, health insurance affordability, health care utilization, behaviors and personal characteristics of respondents such as race and age. Survey results will be used by the Governor's Office and the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing to inform health care reform efforts, and policy initiatives, and to monitor insurance trends in Colorado. Results will also be used by foundations, state agencies and communities for planning and targeted interventions to improve health and access to health care in Colorado.
Since information collected by the Colorado Household Survey is needed beyond 2009 the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing will partner with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment for ongoing survey administration starting in 2010. Results will be available at the state and regional level.
