Education - Race to the Top

Education

The $4 billion Race to the Top grant program is a competitive investment in school reform, with the funds divided over two phases among the states that receive the most points for their reform plans. Colorado submitted applications for phase 1 and 2, but was not selected as a winner in either phase.

Race to the Top was designed to create incentives for innovative, dynamic and quality education policies that ensure that every child has access to a good education and can compete in the global economy. Since 2007, Colorado has put into place policies designed to boost and measure teacher success, improve student learning and track progress, create new internationally bench-marked standards and assessments and help turnaround low-performing schools.
