Performance Management: Setting Performance Standards

Measuring employee performance, defining excellence, measuring routine work, and preventing unclear expectations are among the most critical issues in supervision and performance management. This one day workshop will help supervisors set up criteria, and develop methods to define and use performance standards for the most important processes, practices, and projects as well as daily and routine work tasks.

You will learn the answers to these crucial questions: Which tasks are most important? How do we measure performance of routine duties? What is the standard? How can we know whether we are below, at, or above the standard? What specifically can we do to improve and achieve the desired result? Learn how to collaborate with others to clarify expectations and priorities with team members by creating an objective basis for setting standards and giving positive feedback.

Learning objectives:

  •  Become a standards based work team.
  •  Practice the Ten Principles of Positive and Authentic Assessment.
  •  Develop an assessment strategy with critical success factors, scoring guides, scorecards, checkpoints, and contingency plans.
  •  Link performance measurement to training, education, employee and team development.
