The Executive Director is the chief authority of the State and the advisor to the Governor and the General Assembly in regards to the Department.  DOR is one of the few state agencies that touches every Coloradoan.  DOR is best known for collecting most types of taxes, issuing state identification cards or driver licenses and the Colorado Lottery.  DOR also enforces Colorado taxing and licensing laws regarding auto dealers, gaming, liquor and tobacco, marijuana, and racing.

The Executive Director's Office assists with questions.  The Citizens' Advocate assists the public with DOR questions and concerns regarding motor vehicle, taxation, lottery, and enforcement.  The Communications Director/Public Information Officer provides consistent, reliable and accurate information to the media and reviews all Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) requests.  The Legislative Liaison is responsible for coordinating all legislative matters for DOR.
