Behavioral Health Quality Strategy

If you have Medicaid, you can get mental health care from the Medicaid Mental Health Program.  The Mental Health Program is available across Colorado through Behavioral Health Organizations (BHOs).

The federal government requires Medicaid to have a written strategy (or plan) for looking at the quality of care of the Mental Health Program.

The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) has written a plan, called the Behavioral Health Quality Improvement Strategy.  The plan became final on April 1, 2005.

You can read the plan by clicking here: Behavioral Health Quality Strategy

HCPF received comments about this plan when it was drafted.

You can read these comments and HCPF's responses by clicking here:  Behavioral Health Quality Strategy Comments & Responses

HCPF wants to hear your thoughts about this plan if you:

  • have Medicaid
  • get mental health care from Medicaid
  • have a friend or family member who gets mental health care from Medicaid
  • are a Medicaid mental health care provider or BHO
  • or are interested in Medicaid's Mental Health Program
