Surge Protection

Lightning can strike anywhere, at any time.  Meter socket surge protectors are your first line of defense for protecting your home against power surges from strikes that directly hit the distribution lines. It is the first step in "staged" protection.  Because it is also possible for lightning to enter your home through other sources, and to provide more complete protection for 120-volt appliances such as televisions, computers, microwaves, refrigerators, washing machines, garage door openers, etc., it is recommended that outlet protectors, such as wall-socket or strip surge protectors, be utilized on your home's interior outlets as the second step in staged protection.

For the purchase and installation of a residential meter socket surge protector, the application form must be completed and mailed, along with payment, or selected payment option, to:  Town of Estes Park, Utilities Department, Suite 100, P.O. Box 1200, Estes Park, CO 80517.
