Wendy went to school in Estes Park, kindergarten through graduation then was gone from Estes Park during college and for 10 years, while living in Utah and Florida. She returned to Estes Park in 1987 and raised three children here.
Wendy's 28 year career in track and field exposed her to national and international politics as an athlete, team manager, USA track and field athlete representative and board member, Olympic Committee representative, and Olympic Committee Board member. She participated in the meetings in Washington, DC when President Carter removed the US team from participation in the 1980 Olympics, participated in summer and winter Olympic venue selection, and managed teams for the World Cup in Barcelona, Spain and World Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Wendy learned to see problems from many different perspectives, listen to many viewpoints, ask questions, and make critical decisions.
As an audiologist, Wendy served on legislative committees for business regulation and state conventions. Community Hearing Center was opened in 1989 and is celebrating 21 years in business. Wendy has gained much experience in business from running a small business. The backbone of Estes Park is small businesses.
Previous participation on Boards and Committees: Park Hospital District Board of Directors - 1991-1997; President Park Hospital District Board of Directors - 1996-1997; Recreation District Sub-Committee Member for expansion of recreation in the Estes Valley; Senior Center Board Member and Vestry Member at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church; 20-year member of the Estes Park Lions Club and a Past President.
Educational background: 1973 graduate of Estes Park High School; 1977 Bachelor of Science, Colorado State University; 1978 Master of Science, Colorado State University; 2004 Doctor of Audiology, Central Michigan University.
