The Estes Valley Board of Adjustment is a Town/County board that reviews and has final decision-making authority over variance requests within the Estes Valley, both inside and outside the Town of Estes Park. The governing document is the Estes Valley Development Code. The Estes Valley Board of Adjustment meets as needed on the first Tuesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in the Board Room of Town Hall, 170 MacGregor Avenue, Estes Park. If the preceding Monday is a holiday, the meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of the month.

The Board of Adjustment consists of five members; three residents living within the Estes Park Town limits, and two residents living within the unincorporated Estes Valley. Members must reside within their respective areas for the duration of their term. When vacancies occur, a notice is published in the local newspaper. Town appointments are made by the Estes Park Board of Trustees following an application and interview process. County appointments are made by the Larimer County Board of County Commissioners following an application and interview process. There is one alternate position, which is jointly appointed by the Town Trustees and the County Commissioners. Interested residents are encouraged to participate in the Town's Citizen Information Academy program. Town applicants may apply to serve on the Estes Valley Planning Commission by contacting the Human Resources Department at 970-577-4775; County applicants should contact the County Commissioner's office at 970-498-7010.
