Based on the latest information available to the Governor’s Office. This report is not comprehensive because new Recovery Act awards are announced frequently. This does not include funds - including income tax cuts, increased COBRA benefits, increased funds to cover Medicaid services and others - that cannot be broken down by county. The numbers below represent funds that have been awarded and are expected to be received over the life of the Recovery Act. The funds are distributed to a wide range of groups in the county and do not necessarily touch county government.

 


 

COMMUNITY SERVICES / SAFETY NET:

$113,045

 

Community Services Block grant to *Mexican American Development Association County Region (Including Ouray, Montrose, and San Miguel Counties) for poverty reduction and revitalization of low-income communities. Funds will assist citizens with a one-time payment to assist with rental or mortgage payments.

Extra 13 percent in food stamp benefits to about 180 people in Ouray County between April 1- October 31, 2009.

Grant to Sears, Roebuck and Company to distribute emergency food to households and provide meals to needy people.

Grant to resurface a total of 21.5 miles of SH 62 in asphalt and repair embankments.

Workforce Investment Act Funds for job training to the Western County Region, which includes Ouray, Hinsdale, Montrose, Delta, Gunnison, and San Miguel counties.

Energy Efficiency Conservation Block grant to the New Communities Coalition for energy efficiency improvements on buildings in Ouray and San Miguel counties.

New Energy Economic Development grant to the City of Ouray to install a micro-hydro generating unit at the Ouray Hot Springs Pool.

Bureau of Land Management contract to West Range Reclamation LLC to treat fuels and restore the vegetative community with Lawson Aerator at a site in northern Ouray County
