Based on the latest information available to the Governor’s Office. This report is not comprehensive because new Recovery Act awards are announced frequently. This does not include funds - including income tax cuts, increased COBRA benefits, increased funds to cover Medicaid services and others - that cannot be broken down by county. The numbers below represent funds that have been awarded and are expected to be received over the life of the Recovery Act. The funds are distributed to a wide range of groups in the county and do not necessarily touch county government.






Community Services Block grant to Eagle County for poverty reduction and revitalization of low-income communities. Eagle County will assist qualified adults achieve self-sufficiency by securing employment or upgrading skills in order to progress in their careers through emergency services offered through the Department of Health & Human Services and subcontracting with Colorado Mountain College and the Colorado Workforce Center for hands-on job training activities.




Community Development Block grant to the Town of Red Cliff for infrastructure projects.




Extra 13 percent in food stamp benefits to about 1,000 people in Eagle County between April 1-October 31, 2009




Grant for the Child Care & Development Fund in Eagle County.






Justice Assistance grant to Eagle County for law enforcement programs




Justice Assistance grants to the Town of Avon




Justice Assistance grant to Town of Vail Police Department for the Eagle County Information Sharing Project




Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant to Bright Future Foundation of Eagle County. Funds will allow Bright Future to reinstate a bilingual victim advocate position.






Grant to construct three roundabouts at the Edwards interchange.




Grant to resurface 14 miles of I-70 between Vail Pass and Silverthorne as well as the right lane of eastbound I-70 between milepost 180 and 190. Repairing expansion joints and bridge decks will rehabilitate a number of bridges along the I-70 corridor.




Grant to install various truck parking management components (electronic signs, closed-circuit cameras, power and communications systems), as identified in the I-70 Mountain Corridor PEIS, to provide notification during inclement weather.




Grant construct a bicycle/pedestrian trail along US 24 between I-70 and County Road 14.






Workforce Investment Act Funds for job training to the Rural Resort County Region (Includes Garfield, Lake, Eagle, Pitkin, and Summit counties) residents




Wagner Peyser (WP) & Reemployment Services (RES) to the Rural Resort County Region (Includes Garfield, Lake, Eagle, Pitkin, and Summit counties) residents.




Extra 20 weeks of benefits, through the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program, for 1149 people (as of June 30, 2010) in Eagle County.




Extra $25 per week in unemployment benefits through the Federal Additional Compensation program, for 3,801 people (as of June 30, 2010).




Additional 13 weeks of unemployment benefits through a new state law given to 129 jobless workers as of June 30, 2010.






Estimated funds to be spent for free energy efficiency upgrades in low-income homes in Eagle County.




Loan forgiveness awarded to the Town of Red Cliff for sewer line extensions to connect to Colorado City.




Colorado State Forest Service (Award includes El Paso, Gilpin, Jefferson, Park, Jackson, Routt, Eagle, and Dolores counties) grant awarded Colorado Youth Corps Association funds to create 12 16-week jobs for young adults and retain 6 2-year jobs. The 271-acre project involves landscape-level forest restoration, and beetle-kill and fire mitigation work on forestlands.




Energy Efficiency Conservation Block grant to Eagle County for energy efficiency improvements in buildings in the county.




Rebates for 25 people in Eagle County for the purchase of energy-efficient appliances, including dishwashers, refrigerators, furnaces and boilers.






Title I-A Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Educational Agencies to Eagle County School District RE-50 J.




McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Funds for students in Eagle School District RE-50 J.




Head Start 2009 ARRA COLA Quality Improvements Program funds awarded to Eagle County School District RE-50 J.
