Lt. Gov. Garcia announces new Executive Director of Serve Colorado

Denver, CO — Friday, May 18, 2012 - Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia today announced the selection of Lindsay Dolce as the Executive Director of Serve Colorado - Governor’s Commission on Community Service.


As Executive Director, Dolce will be responsible for overseeing Serve Colorado and leading Colorado’s Early Literacy Initiative, as well as providing statewide leadership in Colorado’s AmeriCorps* State program, strategic planning for national and community initiatives, program development, community outreach, organizational and financial operations and administration. Dolce will begin her role as Executive Director on May 29, 2012.


Dolce brings extensive national and state-level advocacy and outreach experience to the position, having served as Senior Program Manager for the David and Laura Merage Foundation. Previously, she worked as a domestic relations attorney and was a staff member for United States Senator J. Robert Kerrey and President Bill Clinton. Dolce received her B.A. in English, Political Science and International Relations from William Jewell College, studied at Oxford University and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.


Serve Colorado – Governor’s Commission on Community Service strives to build a culture of citizenship, service, and responsibility in Colorado. Serve Colorado works under the leadership of a board of fifteen Commissioners to distribute and administer Colorado’s allocation of AmeriCorps*State funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). The current program portfolio consists of eighteen programs working to meet a variety of immediate and local needs throughout Colorado communities, including environmental stewardship, academic tutoring, youth mentoring, healthy futures, economic opportunity, and more. Additionally, Serve Colorado promotes volunteerism and service as a means to strengthen Colorado communities through days of service, special initiatives, and community partnerships.
