Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia and Mayor Michael Hancock, joined by former Gov. Bill Owens and The CELL (Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab), will announce “Colorado Remembers 9/11,” a commemorative event and free concert with renowned musicians at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, in Denver’s Civic Center Park. The event marks the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and will be hosted by Gov. John Hickenlooper and Mayor Hancock.

Sixteen pieces of steel from the World Trade Center will arrive at approximately 10:15 a.m. in Civic Center Park, in advance of the news conference. The World Trade Center artifacts will be displayed at The CELL’s exhibit in September and Babi Yar Park in the future.
The artifacts will receive a police escort Monday morning as they travel throughout metro Denver. There will be two stops where the public is welcome to view the artifacts.
