Lt. Gov. Garcia presents 2011 Governor’s Service Awards

Wednesday, May 18, 2011 -- Lt. Gov. Joseph A. Garcia along with representatives from Serve Colorado – Governor’s Commission on Community Service will deliver remarks and present the 2011 Governor’s Service Awards to community service leaders and AmeriCorps members this Friday, May 20 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Location: West Foyer, State Capitol.

Honorees include:

The Outstanding Volunteer Award

The Outstanding Community Leader Award

• Betty Proctor, Helping Hearts and Hands

The Outstanding Military Community Service Recognition

• Rear Admiral Richard E. Young, USN (Ret), Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)

The Outstanding Business Award

• Comcast Cable, in honor of Comcast Cares Day

The Outstanding Non-Profit Organization Award

• Groundwork Denver, for volunteer program helping low-income Denver residents

The CO Senior Corps Member of the Year

• Willa Wilkinson, Denver Police Department – Victim Assistance Unit

The CO AmeriCorps*State/National Member of the Year

• Maurice Moore, Mesa State College AmeriCorps Program

The CO AmeriCorps*NCCC Member of the Year

• Heidi Hock, AmeriCorps National

The CO AmeriCorps*VISTA Member of the Year
