Behavioral Health Services Rebid Information
The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (the Department) is beginning its process rebid behavioral health services for 2014 and we are interested in your ideas.
Background: The Medicaid Community Mental Health Services Program provides comprehensive mental health services to Medicaid members in Colorado. The Department currently contracts with 5 regional Behavioral Health Organizations (BHOs) to provide or arrange for these services. The State is required by law to rebid these contracts every five years. The current contracts expire June 30, 2014. The Department is beginning to develop a Request for Proposals (RFP) for behavioral health services to take effect July 1, 2014.
The Department's goal is to achieve greater integration of care and to align systems of care. To develop the best program possible, all ideas are needed. The Department may not be able to use every idea in the new contracts, but all ideas will be reviewed and considered. When providing feedback, please also think about the following questions:

How can the Department streamline care of individuals with complex needs who are receiving care from multiple systems?

The deadline for sending your feedback is Friday, September 7, 2012. This is the first of several opportunities to participate in the design process.

At the end of the stakeholder input period, we will also publish a summary of input that we received. A link to this information will be available on this page approximately mid-September. Please note that Department staff will not be able to respond to individual questions during this time.
Estimated Timeline for RFP Process
- Publication of a draft RFP for stakeholder comment - Summer 2013. The Department plans to hold public forums around the state to allow stakeholders to ask questions and provide feedback to the Department.
- Publication of the final RFP for bidders - Fall 2013. The RFP will be published on the Colorado Bid Information and Distribution System (BIDS) web site. Interested bidders will need to register on BIDS before getting a copy of the RFP.
- Contractor selection and contract negotiation - Spring 2014. The new contract is expected to begin on July 1, 2014.
