GOV. RITTER WELCOMES BACH COMPOSITE INDUSTRY TO COLORADO

Gov. Bill Ritter and Economic Development Director Don Marostica today joined Bach Composite Industry, Upstate Colorado Economic Development and Fort Lupton officials to announce that Denmark-based Bach will locate its first North American manufacturing plant in Fort Lupton.

Bach recently acquired the former Colorado Railcar Manufacturing building in Fort Lupton, which has been vacant since the end of 2008. After making extensive renovations to the building, Bach will manufacture premium-quality composite products for wind industry manufacturers in Colorado and throughout North America.

"We're very pleased to welcome Bach as the newest member of Colorado's New Energy Economy," Gov. Ritter said. "Bach's decision to locate its first North American manufacturing plant in Fort Lupton will create jobs, strengthen our economy and continue to lead us toward a quick and strong economic recovery. It's another demonstration of Colorado's economic resilience and the success of our economic-development strategy."

Bach's new facility will utilize a highly sophisticated manufacturing process to produce composite products for wind energy customers such as Brighton-based Vestas Nacelles America Inc. Bach will employ 100 to 150 workers at full production, which is scheduled to begin in early 2010.

Bach CEO Geert Skovsgaard touted Colorado's business-friendly environment, skilled workforce, and dedication to economic development and business assistance as key factors in his decision.

"While its reputation as a leading state for renewable energy and the presence of such an important customer made Colorado an obvious choice, it was not our only option," Skovsgaard said. "Our decision to locate in Fort Lupton is a direct result of the extraordinary attention and assistance we received from the Governor's economic development team, which made it possible to acquire, entitle, renovate and occupy a vacant industrial building more quickly than I ever could have hoped." Skovsgaard also thanked Kittie Hook of Fuller Real Estate for her crucial role in facilitating the building acquisition.

Today's announcement is great news for Colorado, but it is especially good news for Fort Lupton, a key city along the US-85 manufacturing corridor. Mayor Shannon Crespin hailed Bach's decision to take over the vacant Colorado Railcar facility.

"On behalf of the City of Fort Lupton, I am thrilled to welcome Bach Composite Industry to our community," Crespin said. "Fort Lupton's government and its skilled and dedicated workforce are ready to work hard to make Bach's new manufacturing plant a great success."
