GOV. RITTER APPOINTS LARIMER COUNTY COURT JUDGE
Gov. Bill Ritter announced today the appointment of Robert A. Rand of Windsor as a Larimer County Court judge in the 8th Judicial District.
Rand currently works at Rand and Associates in Fort Collins, where he practices both criminal law and bankruptcy. He previously worked at Rand and Orswell in Florida from 2002 to 2008 and was a solo practitioner from 1989 to 2002.
From 1985 to 1989, he worked in Florida's Office of Statewide Prosecution, and from 1984 to 1985 he served in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. He also served in the Office of the Florida State Attorney from 1980 to 1984.
Rand earned his B.S. from Florida State University in 1975 and his J.D. from Florida State University in 1980.
Rand will fill a vacancy occasioned by the upcoming retirement of the Hon. C. Edward Stirman on Nov. 8. The initial term of office is a provisional term of two years and then until the second Tuesday in January following the next general election. Thereafter, if retained by the voters, the term for a county court judge is four years.
The current annual salary for the position is $123,067.
