GOV. RITTER APPOINTS INTA MORRIS INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION
Gov. Bill Ritter today appointed Inta Morris as interim executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education (DHE). Morris is currently the assistant director for Interdepartmental and External Affairs at DHE and will serve in the interim role until a permanent replacement has been selected.
"With her passion for connecting Coloradans with higher education, Inta will be a strong leader for our education system," said Gov. Ritter. "She is a constant engaging voice for higher education throughout the state, and will be a great interim director as we continue our search for a permanent replacement."
Gov. Ritter also praised David Skaggs for his years of service to DHE: "I want to thank David for his dedication to keeping college affordable and accessible, and for creating opportunities for Colorado students. He continues to have a bright future, and I wish him well."
Morris has worked at DHE since July of 2007. Previously she served as Academic and Political Affairs Officer for the Canadian Consulate General in Denver; Vice President of the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation, a nongovernmental organization focused on fostering ties between the scientific and academic communities of the US and countries of the former Soviet Union; director of the Committee on International Security and Arms Control of the National Academy of Sciences; and she worked in the International Affairs office of the National Research Council/National Academy of Sciences (now National Academies). She began her career working for then-Congressman David Skaggs, first as a member of his campaign staff and then as a legislative assistant in his congressional office.
Morris has a Masters Degree from George Washington University and Bachelors Degree from CU. She will begin her new position on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009.
