GOV. RITTER STATEMENT ON HARRIS SHERMAN NOMINATION
Gov. Ritter issued the following statement today congratulating Colorado Department of Natural Resources Executive Director Harris Sherman on his nomination to serve as Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, overseeing the U.S. Forest Service and Natural Resources Conservation Service:
"Harris has devoted much of his professional career to serving the people of Colorado and protecting and managing this state's precious natural resources, including our wilderness areas, wildlife, wildlife habitat and water supplies. He truly understands the solemn responsibility that comes with the conservation and responsible management of those resources, and he is tireless in his dedication and commitment to leaving this state better than we found it. Having twice served as Colorado's director of natural resources, first in the Lamm administration and again since 2007, I know he will do an outstanding job as under secretary.
"President Obama's nomination of yet another talented Colorado leader speaks volumes about our place on the national stage. I urge the Senate Agriculture Committee and the full Senate to confirm Harris' nomination as quickly as possible."
