Public hearings announced for amendment to CDBG - Disaster Recovery Action Plan

DENVER – Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 – Residents from communities impacted by the 2013 floods are encouraged to attend upcoming public hearings in Boulder, El Paso, Larimer and Weld counties to be held from August 11-18 to comment on the state’s Substantial Amendment to the current Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Action Plan.

The amendment outlines how the state proposes to allocate the additional $199 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to communities impacted by the 2013 floods, as well as by wildfires in 2012 and 2013.  HUD made an initial $62 million available and the state completed its initial Action Plan in April of 2014.

Colorado’s CDBG-DR Action Plan addresses grant and loan programs that will be available to communities in the areas of housing, infrastructure, economic revitalization, agriculture, planning and watershed restoration. The funds, announced in March, will go toward needs not addressed through other sources of federal assistance, such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
