DENVER — Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced several Boards and Commissions appointments today. The appointments were to the 16th Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission; the Caring For Colorado Foundation Board of Directors; the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education; the State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Council; the State Medical Assistance and Services Advisory Council; and the Workers Compensation Cost Containment Board.
Colorado’s 22 judicial districts have judicial district nominating commissions that select nominees for district and county judicial vacancies. Each district nominating commission is chaired by a justice of the Supreme Court, who is a non-voting member of the commission. The member appointed to the 16th Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2018:
The Caring For Colorado Foundation Board of Directors promotes and serves the healthcare needs of Coloradans. The foundation makes grants in communities throughout the state to increase access to direct health services, to implement prevention programs, to share health information and to improve the health care infrastructure. The member appointed for terms expiring on the date of the first meeting in 2015 of the Board of Directors of the Caring for Colorado Foundation:
The State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education governs the state community college system and the coordinating board for local district colleges. The State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Council advises the Department of Public Health and Environment on all matters relating to emergency medical and trauma services programs. The council’s duties include developing curricula for the training of emergency medical personnel, establishing requirements for ambulance vehicles and services, and determining the eligibility of facilities to receive trauma center designation.The members appointed for terms expiring July 1, 2013:
The State Medical Assistance and Services Advisory Council assists the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing in the preparation and implementation of a comprehensive medical plan for low-income families. The member appointed for a term expiring Nov. 12, 2013:
The Workers Compensation Cost Containment Board is responsible for promoting cost containment and risk management programs in the administration of Workers’ Compensation Programs. The appointment must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate. The member appointed for a term expiring Dec. 13, 2014:
