Gov. Hickenlooper announces Boards and Commissions Appointments

DENVER — Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced several Boards and Commissions appointments today. The appointments were to the 16th Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission; the Caring For Colorado Foundation Board of Directors; the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education; the State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Council; the State Medical Assistance and Services Advisory Council; and the Workers Compensation Cost Containment Board.

Colorado’s 22 judicial districts have judicial district nominating commissions that select nominees for district and county judicial vacancies. Each district nominating commission is chaired by a justice of the Supreme Court, who is a non-voting member of the commission. The member appointed to the 16th Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2018:

Nathan Shultz of La Junta, to serve as an attorney and as a Republican from Otero County, and occasioned by the resignation of Philip Palmer of La Junta.

The Caring For Colorado Foundation Board of Directors promotes and serves the healthcare needs of Coloradans. The foundation makes grants in communities throughout the state to increase access to direct health services, to implement prevention programs, to share health information and to improve the health care infrastructure. The member appointed for terms expiring on the date of the first meeting in 2015 of the Board of Directors of the Caring for Colorado Foundation:

Jo Ann Pegues of Denver, to serve as a member and occasioned by the resignation of Cynthia M. Stevenson of Boulder.

The State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education governs the state community college system and the coordinating board for local district colleges. It also coordinates the activities of area vocational schools.The appointments must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate.The member appointed for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2013:

Jean K. White of Hayden, to serve as a Republican and a resident of the 3rd Congressional District and occasioned by the resignation of Ruth Ann Woods of South Fork.

The members appointed for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2016:

Maury C. Dobbie of Fort Collins, to serve as a Republican and a resident of the 2nd Congressional District, reappointed.
Russell Joseph Meyer of Parker, to serve as a Democrat and a resident of the 4th Congressional District.

The State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Council advises the Department of Public Health and Environment on all matters relating to emergency medical and trauma services programs. The council’s duties include developing curricula for the training of emergency medical personnel, establishing requirements for ambulance vehicles and services, and determining the eligibility of facilities to receive trauma center designation.The members appointed for terms expiring July 1, 2013:

Bruce “Buddy” Schmalz of Central City, to serve as a county commissioner from a rural county, and occasioned by the resignation of Nancy Stuart of Granby.
John Andrew Hall of Grand Junction, to serve as the Regional Council Chair and occasioned by the resignation of Brandon W. Chambers of Mazanola.

The State Medical Assistance and Services Advisory Council assists the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing in the preparation and implementation of a comprehensive medical plan for low-income families. The member appointed for a term expiring Nov. 12, 2013:

Rebecca A. Lefebvre of Lafayette, to serve as a professional nurse licensed in Colorado, and occasioned by the resignation of Barbara Hughes of Denver.

The Workers Compensation Cost Containment Board is responsible for promoting cost containment and risk management programs in the administration of Workers’ Compensation Programs. The appointment must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate. The member appointed for a term expiring Dec. 13, 2014:

Jeffrey Michael Citrone of Denver, to serve as an executive with good risk management experience in the insurance industry, and occasioned by the resignation of Michael W. Mitchell of Windsor.
