DENVER — Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced several Boards and Commissions appointments today. The appointments were to the Colorado Children's’ Trust Fund Board; the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice; the High-Performance Transportation Enterprise; the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Advisory Council; the Medical Services Board; the Pinnacol Assurance Board of Directors; the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District; the State Board of Social Work Examiners; the State Rehabilitation Advisory Council; StudyColorado; and the Workers’ Compensations Cost Containment Board.
The Colorado Children's Trust Fund provides funding to programs throughout Colorado that focus on the prevention of child abuse and neglect. The fund is actively pursuing better lives for Colorado’s children by maintaining focus on the following two goals: reducing the incidence of child abuse and neglect for Colorado's children; and reducing the need for state intervention in child abuse prevention and education. The Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice is comprised of experts in criminal justice, corrections, mental health, drug abuse, victims’ rights, higher education, juvenile justice, local government, and other pertinent disciplines. The commission was formed to engage in an evidence-based analysis of the criminal justice system in Colorado and annually report to the governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, and the Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court. The members appointed for terms expiring June. 30, 2015:
The High-Performance Transportation Enterprise was created to seek out opportunities for public-private partnerships for the purpose of completing surface transportation infrastructure projects. The Transportation Enterprise should have sufficient flexibility, consistent with the requirements of the state constitution, to pursue any available means of financing such surface transportation projects that will allow the efficient completion of the projects. The Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Advisory Council advises the Division of Criminal Justice and the Governor on matters pertaining to juvenile justice in Colorado. The council assists, reviews and approves the annual Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Plan. The member appointed for a term expiring July 31, 2016:
The Medical Services Board adopts the rules and regulations that govern the operation of the Colorado Medicaid Program, Colorado Indigent Care Program, Adult Foster Care Program and Home Care Allowance. The regulations adopted by the board will direct the efforts of the State in defining eligibility and the benefits for these programs, the rights and obligations of clients receiving benefits, and the payment of vendors providing health care services. The board provides advice and consultation to the State Board of Human Services in connection with the administration of the Old Age Pension Health and Medical Fund. The Pinnacol Assurance Board of Directors promulgates rules and regulations pertaining to the operation and administration of the Colorado Pinnacol Assurance Fund. The appointments must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate. The member appointed for a term expiring Jan.1, 2017:

The Scientific and Cultural Facilities District preserves and develops scientific and cultural facilities for the economic development and tourism to maintain and promote such facilities. The member appointed for a term expiring May 15, 2015:
The State Board of Social Work Examiners licenses social workers in Colorado and conducts hearings concerning complaints against licensed social workers. The member appointed for a term expiring June 30, 2014:
The State Rehabilitation Advisory Council was created to advise state Rehabilitation Services on the provision of appropriate and quality services to its customers. The council advises only; it is not a governing board and has no fiscal responsibilities. A majority of its members must be persons with disabilities. The mission of StudyColorado is to attract international students to Colorado through the unified outreach efforts of state government, higher education and the business community. StudyColorado is developing a statewide higher education brand for state leaders to promote Colorado higher education internationally, while providing a forum for the exchange of information related to international education and also helping to create a welcoming culture for international students and visitors.
