DENVER — Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced several Boards and Commissions appointments today. The appointments were to the Board of Trustees of the Colorado School of Mines; the Colorado Banking Board; the Colorado Tourism Office Board of Directors; the Governor’s Commission on Community Service; the Historic Preservation State Review Board; and the Peace Officers Standards and Training Board.
The Board of Trustees of the Colorado School of Mines makes policy for the school and oversees its operation. The appointments must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate. The members appointed for terms effective Jan. 1, 2013 and expiring Dec. 31, 2016:
The Colorado Banking Board is the policy-making and rule-making authority for the division of banking and has the authority to make all final decisions with respect to the taking of possession, liquidation, or reorganization of banks. The appointment must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate. The member appointed for a term expiring July 1, 2013:
The Colorado Tourism Office Board of Directors sets and administers policies regarding expenditures from the Colorado Travel and Tourism Fund for promoting travel and tourism and related activities that benefit the state. The appointment must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate. The member appointed for a term expiring June 1, 2016:
The Governor’s Commission on Community Service recommends to the governor a comprehensive national and community service plan for the state that is developed through an open and public process and updated annually. The plan shall address the state’s needs in the areas of school safety, preventing youth violence, literacy and mentoring or disadvantaged youth. The commission administers funds from the Corporation on National and Community Service. The member appointed for a term expiring Aug. 24, 2013:
The Historic Preservation State Review Board approves National Register nominations. The board reviews the State Historic Preservation Officer’s recommendations for national landmarks and provides general advice, guidance and professional recommendations to the State Historic Preservation Officer in carrying out the duties and responsibilities authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act. The members appointed for terms effective Jan. 1, 2013 and expiring Jan. 1, 2015:
The Peace Officers Standards and Training Board oversees the certification of training programs, training academies and instructors of police officer candidates. The board also certifies qualified peace officers. The member appointed for a term expiring June 30, 2013:
