DENVER — Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced several Boards and Commissions appointments today. The appointments were to the Early Childhood Leadership Commission; the CollegeInvest Board of Directors; the Colorado Juvenile Parole Board; the Colorado Medical Board; the Colorado Racing Commission; the Financial Services Board; and the State Board of Optometry.
The Early Childhood Leadership Commission improves outcomes for young children ages birth to eight and their families by advancing the alignment, coordination and efficiency of programs and services. The member appointed for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor:
The CollegeInvest Board of Directors administers Colorado’s 529 college savings programs and students studying in- and out-of-state. The appointments must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate. The members appointed for terms expiring July 31, 2016:
The Colorado Juvenile Parole Board grants, denies, modifies, suspends or revokes parole for juvenile delinquents committed to the Department of Human Services. The member appointed for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor:
The Colorado Medical Board reviews applications for medical licenses. In cases involving any professional or ethical violations of the Medical Practices Act, the board holds hearings and assists the state’s district attorneys in the prosecution of all persons, firms, associations, or corporations charged with improper conduct. The member appointed for a term expiring May 3, 2016:
The Colorado Racing Commission regulates and supervises pari-mutuel wagering (for horses and dogs), including enforcement of rules, supervision of race meets and racing officials, and collection of revenues to the State. The Financial Services Board is the policy-making and rule-making authority for the Division of Financial Services. The appointment must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate. The member appointed for a term expiring July 1, 2015:
The State Board of Optometry sets rules and regulations for administering examinations and conducts hearings to revoke, suspend, deny or reissue licenses. The member appointed for a term expiring April 15, 2016:
