Gov. Hickenlooper appoints district court judge to 4th Judicial District

DENVER — Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today announced the appointment of the Hon. Marla Prudek to the District Court of the 4th Judicial District. Prudek will fill a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Kirk S. Samelson.

 

Prudek currently serves on the 4th Judicial District El Paso County Court bench, where she hears misdemeanor criminal cases, traffic and civil cases. Prior to her work as a judge, she worked at Gentry and Prudek, LLP; as a solo practitioner at the Law Office of Marla Prudek; and at the law firm of Retherford, Mullen, Rector and Johnson. She also served as a Deputy District Attorney for El Paso County and Assistant Attorney General to the State of Washington, Division of Social and Health Services.

 

Prudek earned a bachelor’s degree from Carroll College and a J.D. from University of Puget Sound Law School.

 

The appointment is effective immediately.
