DENVER — Tuesday, July 31, 2011 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced today he is seeking candidates to fill the vacancy for Ouray County Commissioner created by the resignation of Heidi Albritton effective Aug. 14, 2012.
Section 1-12-206(4) of the Colorado Constitution states that “if the vacating commissioner is unaffiliated, then a registered unaffiliated successor shall be appointed by the governor, acting as a vacancy committee, within 10 days after the vacancy.” The person appointed shall hold office until the next general election (2012) and until a successor is elected.
Interested applicants must be residents of Ouray County and be registered as an Unaffiliated voter. Candidates must submit a formal application, a resume and a letter stating why they are interested in being appointed. The Governor’s Office is accepting applications through the Office of Boards and Commissions until Aug. 24.
