DENVER — Tuesday, July 3, 2012 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced today the appointment of Elizabeth Ann Starrs to serve as a district court judge in the 2nd Judicial District (Denver County). Starrs will fill a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Christina Habas.
Starrs is currently a partner at Starrs Mihm LLP, a position she has held since 2003. Her present law practice focuses on extensive commercial and complex civil litigation including business torts, legal malpractice, employment, medical malpractice and insurance bad faith. Before starting her own firm, Starrs worked for a number of private law firms, including Cooper & Kelly P.C. and Kennedy & Christopher P.C. She served as president of the Colorado Bar Association from 2006-2007.
Starrs earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1980.
Starrs’ judicial appointment is effective July 13, 2012.
