Gov. Hickenlooper announces several Board and Commission appointments

DENVER ­- Friday, April 27, 2012 - Gov. John Hickenlooper announced several appointments to Boards and Commissions today. The appointments were to the Colorado Commission On Low Income Energy Assistance; the Colorado State Child Fatality Prevention Review Team; and the 11th Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission.

 

The Colorado Commission On Low Income Energy Assistance works through the Low Income Energy Assistance Program to collect and distribute money to eligible recipients for use in the payment of electric and gas utility bills. The members appointed for terms expiring Dec. 2, 2013, are:

· Howard O. Brooks of Colorado Springs, to serve as a designee from the private sector.

· Diedra K. Howard of Aurora, to serve as a designee from the private sector.

· H. Brian Martens of Windsor, to serve as a designee from the private sector.

· Sanders G. "Skip" Arnold of Boulder, to serve as a designee from the private sector.

· Richard A. Brewer of Brighton, to serve as a designee from the private sector.

The member appointed for a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor is:

· Aggie Berens of Golden, director of the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program in the Colorado Department of Human Services.

 

The Colorado State Child Fatality Prevention Review Team reviews specified deaths of children from birth to 18 years old involving circumstances in which the children are receiving services from a county department or in which there has been a report of suspected abuse or neglect in order to develop a community approach to the problem of child abuse and neglect. The member appointed for a term expiring Sep. 1, 2012, is:

· Sheriff James Crone of Fort Morgan, to serve as a county sheriff from a rural area.

The members appointed for terms expiring Sep. 1, 2014, are:

· Artelle Jones of Pueblo West, to serve as a district attorney from a rural area.

· Maria Mandt of Denver, to serve as a physician who specializes in traumatic injury or children's health.

· Antonia Chiesa of Denver, to serve as a physician who specializes in traumatic injury or children's death.

· David Tennant of Sterling, to serve as a county coroner.

· Leon Kelly of Colorado Springs, to serve as a county coroner.

· Amber Urban of Aurora, to serve as a peace officer who specializes in crimes against children.

· Brian Steckler of Colorado Springs, to serve as a peace officer who specializes in crimes against children.

· George Wang of Golden, to serve as a physician who specializes in traumatic injury or children's health.

· Jennifer Kelloff of Denver, to serve as a physician who specializes in traumatic injury or children's death.

· Ricki Sorensen of Aurora, to serve as a nurse who specializes in traumatic injury or children's health.

· Julie Hoff of Parker, to serve as a nurse who specializes in traumatic injury or children's health.

· Janet Rowland of Grand Junction, to serve as a county commissioner.

 

The 11th Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission selects nominees for district and county judicial vacancies. The commission is chaired by a justice of the Supreme Court, who is a non-voting member of the commission and consists of seven citizens residing in that judicial district. The member appointed for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2017 is:

· Mark Willis Pedigo of Westcliffe, to serve as a non-attorney and as an Unaffiliated from Custer County.
