Tuesday, March 8, 2011 — Gov. John Hickenlooper announced today an appointment to the State Board of Community Colleges and Occupational Education.
The State Board of Community Colleges and Occupational Education is the governing body for the 13 state community colleges system and the coordinating board for the two local district colleges. It regulates and coordinates the activities of area vocational schools.
Hickenlooper has appointed Kenneth C. Weil to serve a four-year term. The appointment is dependent upon Senate confirmation.
Weil most recently served as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Director, Office of Policy and Initiatives for Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter. In this role, he led policy development and implementation in health care, education, transportation, economic development and energy policy. Also, Weil served as the liaison for inter-governmental work with the White House, Cabinet and Congress.
Prior to this position, Weil was the Campaign Co-Chair for Ritter for Governor. He was the President of Rose Biomedical Research, Rose Biomedical Development Corporation & MedDetect, LLC. Weil also served in various positions at Rose Health Care Systems. He has a bachelor’s degree from Miami University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from George Washington University.
