Colorado State Capitol Building Historical, Attic, and Legislative Tour Information
Historical tours begin on the first floor and consist of early Colorado history, Capitol construction, several stained glass windows, Women's Gold Tapestry, Presidential portraits, and a stop outside the Senate and House of Representatives chambers.
HISTORICAL TOUR HOURS
Public historical tours are offered hourly 10am to 3pm Monday through Friday.
MR. BROWN'S ATTIC
Mr. Brown's Attic is an exhibit area located between the third floor and the dome. It is devoted to Colorado's early history, capitol construction, legislative process and a children's interactive space. A closed-captioned video tour (near third floor elevators) is available for visitors who are unable or do not wish to make the climb.
Beginning in December 2011 the dome will be closed due to the dome renovation project. Mr. Brown’s attic, the capitol museum, will remain open during the dome renovation.
A 45 minute Legislative tour is available during the legislative session for school groups (early January through early May), this 45-minute legislative orientation for students may include a visit to the House and Senate Galleries and a possible meeting with a lawmaker. Reservations are required.
The Colorado State Capitol Building is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The building is closed on weekends.

North, first floor (Colfax and Sherman) - public and group entrance
South, basement (14th and Sherman) - visitors with special needs should access the building at this entrance
Capitol visitor brochures are available at the tour desk in the following languages: English, Chinese (traditional and simplified), French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
Souvenirs are available for sale on the first floor. Souvenirs include capitol t-shirts, note cards, holiday ornaments and a capitol book. Cash or checks accepted (no credit cards).

Approximate walking times to the Capitol
U.S. Mint - 20 to 25 minutes (online reservations required)
Denver Art Museum - 10 to 15 minutes
Governor's Mansion - 15 to 30 minutes
Molly Brown House - 15 to 20 minutes
Byers-Evans House - 15 to 20 minutes
Metered parking and paid park lots are located nearby.
There are a limited number of handicapped parking spaces in the Capitol circle. Access by 14th and Sherman. Disability placard or license plate required.
SCHOOL BUS PARKING
School bus parking is on both sides of Broadway between Colfax and 14th. Loading and unloading zone on Grant - east of the Capitol. Bus driver is required to remain on the bus.
Name tags with first names in large, bold print. The rotunda basement benches are available for a picnic-style lunch for students. Please notify the tour desk, in advance, if you are planning to eat lunch in the capitol on the day of your tour. We appreciate your group's courtesy to the legislators, workers, and other visitors to our building during your visit.
STUDENT GROUP LUNCH AREA
The rotunda basement benches are available for student groups by reservation only. Maximum occupancy is 30 people. Lunches brought to the capitol must be placed in laundry baskets or cardboard boxes at the tour desk.
The Capitol is located one block southeast of Civic Center Station, which can be accessed by Light Rail from the 16th Street Mall. Check with RTD (http://www.rtd-denver.com/) for specific schedules.
