The Tobacco Education, Prevention, and Cessation Grant Program Review Committee (“Review Committee”) was created in 2005 by Amendment 35 (House Bill 05-1262) with the responsibility for “ensuring that program priorities are established consistent with the Colorado tobacco prevention and control strategic plan, overseeing program strategies and activities, and ensuring that the program grants are in compliance with Section 25-3.5-805” of the Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.). (C.R.S. 25-3.5-804 (5)). |

The Review Committee is composed of 16 members as prescribed by C.R.S. Section 25-3.5-804 (5) (b): (5)(b) The Review Committee shall consist of the following sixteen members: (I) The director of the department [CDPHE] or the director's designee; (II) Five members who shall be appointed by the director of the department, one of whom shall include the director of the tobacco education, prevention, and cessation program within the division and four of whom shall be staff of the program with expertise in tobacco prevention among youth, reducing exposure to secondhand smoke, tobacco cessation, or public education. (III) Eight members who shall be appointed by the state board [Colorado Board of Health] as follows: (A) One member who is a member of the state board; (B) One member who is a representative of a local public health agency; (C) One member who is a representative of a statewide association representing physicians; (D) One member who is a representative of an association representing family physicians; (E) One member who is a representative of the Colorado Department of Education; (F) One member who is a representative of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center who has expertise in evaluation; (G) One member who represents a socio-demographic disadvantaged population in Colorado; and (H) One member who is a representative of a statewide nonprofit organization with a demonstrated expertise in and commitment to tobacco control. (IV) The President of the Senate shall appoint one member of the Senate. (V) The Speaker of the House of Representatives shall appoint one member of the House of Representatives.

STANDING MEETING SCHEDULE: The Review Committee for the Tobacco Education, Prevention and Cessation Grant Program meets on the third Friday of every month from 1:00-4:30 p.m. The meeting schedule is occasionally adjusted as needed. Please check this website for meeting updates or contact the Review Committee Coordinator at 303-692-2698.
LOCATION: Meetings will be held at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), 4300 Cherry Creek Drive South, Denver, 80246. The Carson Room in Building A (the main building) will be used and is located on the first floor between the front desk and the cafeteria. If the Sabin Room is available, the committee will meet in the Sabin Room, which is near the cafeteria on the first floor. A visitor badge is NOT required to access either room. Visitor parking is available on this campus and is clearly marked.

The Executive Subcommittee is composed of the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and the Director of the Colorado Tobacco Education, Prevention and Cessation Program. Issues addressed by the Executive Subcommittee may include but are not limited to the formation of meeting agendas, the preparation of meeting materials and responses to public inquiries. The current subcommittee members are: Jennifer Ludwig, Chair; Karen Wilson, MD, Vice Chair; and Celeste Schoenthaler. The standing meeting schedule for 2013 is the second Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Meetings are held at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), in the main building (Building A), unless otherwise noted. The address is 4300 Cherry Creek Drive South, Denver, 80246. The subcommittee meetings are open to the public and one can attend in-person.
