Certified Intoxilyzer operators may become certified as Intoxilyzer instructors by:
(1) completing the 16-hour CDPHE EBAT instructor initial certification course,
(2) scoring 80% or greater on a written exam, and
(3) completing a comprehensive practical exam.
Annual Online Refresher Course:
Annually, the EBAT instructor must complete the EBAT Program online refresher course using CO.TRAIN. In addition, the EBAT instructor should complete one recertification EBAT using the I-9000 Recertification menu option.
Biennial Operator Class:
Every two years, the EBAT instructor must participate in teaching one 8-hour EBAT operator certification course.
Operator certification courses will be administered by the EBAT Program starting in 2013. Regional operator courses will be scheduled throughout Colorado each year.
In addition, operator courses will be held at the Laboratory Services Division on a regular basis. Dates and locations of the EBAT operator certification courses for 2013 are pending and will be posted on the EBAT Program's website in early 2013 at www.coloradoebat.us.
Law enforcement officers may become certified I-9000 operators by:
(1) attending an 8-hour EBAT initial operator certification course at a regional law enforcement agency and completing a comprehensive practical exam, and
(2) scoring 80% or greater on the the written operator exam.
Annual Online Refresher Course:
Annually, the EBAT operator must complete the EBAT Program online refresher course using CO.TRAIN.
Recertification EBAT:
Within 180 days, the EBAT operator must complete a recertification EBAT using the I-9000 recertification menu option.
An operator may perform a recertification EBAT anytime prior to expiration. A new 180-day expiration date is automatically calculated.
