Disaster Behavioral Health

Our mission aims to promote, maintain and restore individual and community psychosocial well-being for the people and organizations of Colorado. We implement this mission from preparedness through recovery by providing resources, technical assistance, consultation and guidance, working toward being the nation's leading disaster behavioral health system.

We work with 1st responders, individuals, state agencies, local organizations and communities in ways that are cooperative, collaborative, culturally congruent, diverse and strategic in nature. This effort has lead to the development of:

  1. Colorado Crisis Education and Response Network (CoCERN)
  2. A well-trained community cadre built through the development and delivery of disaster behavioral health trainings
  3. Response resources and their dissemination

This program has been nationally recognized for providing leadership, consultation, training, technical assistance, and for building community and state level capacity to respond to behavioral health service needs in the event of a disaster.
