Stroke Advisory Board

Stroke Advisory Board Overview

The purpose of the Stroke Advisory Board is to evaluate potential strategies for stroke prevention and treatment and develop a statewide needs assessment identifying relevant resources. The 18 Governor-appointed members of the Stroke Advisory Board are to study and make recommendations for developing a statewide plan to improve quality of care for stroke patients.

The recommendations are to address the creation of a state database or registry; allowing access to aggregated stroke data to interested parties; evaluation of current available stroke treatments and recommendations to improve stroke prevention and treatment; developing a plan to encourage rural and urban hospitals to coordinate referral or receipt of patients requiring stroke care; and whether designation hospitals in stroke care is appropriate or needed to assure access to the best quality care for Colorado residents with stroke events.
