Health Statistics Section

The Health Statistics Section promotes understanding and utilization of health status information through the collection, analysis, and dissemination of vital event and health survey data. The section strives to provide accurate, timely, and valuable information in formats that serve the needs of its customers.

Data request form

Public health data are the foundation of good public health practice. Data are used to:

• monitor health trends
• identify groups at risk for health problems
• prioritize health issues
• develop programs and policies, and
• evaluate the effectiveness of strategies designed to promote health.

Health Statistics Section services include:

• assistance in the search for data;
• provision of technical assistance, and
• training in the availability and use of data.
