Colorado Clean Diesel Program

School Bus

The Colorado Clean Diesel Program offers pollution reduction support for diesel vehicles -- primarily for public school bus fleets. Since 2006 this program has provided pollution reduction equipment, such as oxidation catalysts, crankcase filtration and engine pre-heaters at no charge to school districts using EPA grants and other funding. As of January 2013 more than 1,300 school buses in 50 Colorado counties have been retrofitted with pollution reduction devices, protecting 78,000 Colorado student bus riders from direct exposures to toxic diesel exhaust and offsetting more than 70,000 cars that would otherwise cause more congestion.
