The Colorado Department of Human Services has named Levetta Love as Director of its Office of Economic Security.
Since 2011, Love has served as the state’s director of the Division of Employment and Benefits. Prior to her state service, Love administered successful work programs and other public assistance programs in El Paso and Pueblo Counties.
The Office of Economic Security directs programs that provide income, nutritional and support services to Coloradans in need. The office also provides policy, performance management and fiscal tools to all of Colorado’s county human services departments.
“This is an exciting time to lead this team,” said Love. “We are prioritizing goals and outcomes to alleviate poverty in Colorado through Two Generation strategies that support parents and children; to offer successful, evidence-based work support programs with measurable results; to strengthen programs that offer food assistance and child support services; and, to continue to find ways to support refugees who come to Colorado to create a solid economic and occupational future.”
“Levetta is the ideal person in this leadership role for many reasons,” said Bicha. “She has extensive experience at the national, state and county levels taking ideas from what could be done to help Coloradans to converting them into programs and initiatives that are putting food on the table, child support payments in the bank, and people into meaningful jobs.”
Love is a graduate of Illinois State University. She begins her duties on May 12.
