Adams Youth Services Center (AYSC) is a State-operated 30 bed juvenile detention facility located in Brighton, CO. The co-ed detention facility serves youth ages 10–17.
Adams Youth Services Center serves detention youth from the Colorado’s 17th Judicial District (JD). The 17th JD is comprised of Adams and Broomfield counties. All youth are held predispositionally while awaiting court appearances or serving short sentences of no more than 45 days. The mission of AYSC is to provide detention services in an environment which is safe, healthy, and secure for youth, staff, and the community.
The facility utilizes a positive-peer culture program which emphasizes individual self-control and group responsibility. The daily program schedule revolves around the in-house school staffed by the Brighton 27J School District and is focused on the individual needs of the youth. The evening program philosophy is on group learning experiences and focuses on the “community.” Staff and programs will remain attentive to cultural, racial, and sexual orientation.
Youth residing in the facility are male and female requiring secure detention and can range in age from 10 through 17.
Visitation is an avenue to build and maintain healthy family and community relationships. Families of youth in the care of the Colorado Division of Youth Corrections are encouraged to visit the facility. All visits require a scheduled appointment. You can request visitation by contacting the Adams YSC Control Center at (303) 659-4450 ext. 10.
