Request-a-Bug: Requesting Insects from Colorado Department of Agriculture
The Insectary distributes biological controls for non-native, invasive weeds. We do not distribute insects like ladybugs for general gardening purposes. View fees.
To verify the identity of the weed you are trying to control, please check out the Colorado Department of Agriculture's Noxious Weeds List. Biocontrol agents are usually host specific. For example, the weevil that suppresses musk thistle may not work for Canada thistle; therefore, it is important to accurately identify the species in order to achieve results and avoid wasting the insects.
When the insects become available for release, you will be contacted by phone to set up a method of delivery. The Department can only ship to Colorado addresses. Since the collection period and viability of the insects after collection are relatively short, if you can't be reached when they are available, the next person on the list will be contacted. Please use a daytime address. If you don't receive a release during the growing season, please let us know.
Please fill out the form below to request insects. We will contact you later for payment and delivery arrangements. If you have problems with the form or have further questions please call (866) 324-2963.
