Over Half-a-Million People Enjoy Colorado State Fair

“The Colorado State Fair has stayed true to its mission of honoring youth and agriculture.  I appreciate the hard work and dedication of those who participated in this year’s event.”  --Chris Wiseman, General Manager

PUEBLO, Colo. –The 2011 Colorado State Fair has come to a close; 515,995 people attended the 11-day event in Pueblo, Colo.

“This year’s attendance numbers were only 1,145 people less than last year.  I’m pleased with the attendance and look forward to introducing more people to our State Fair next year,” said General Manager, Chris Wiseman.  “The Colorado State Fair provides more than entertainment and educational opportunities; it also contributes to the economy across the state.  I would like to thank all the attendees of this year’s Fair for helping make it a success.”

Highlights from the 2011 Colorado State Fair:

  • UPDATED INFORMATION:  The annual Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale raised $407,325 for Colorado’s 4H and FFA youth, which is $47,025 more than the 2010 total.  Due to a technical error, this information is updated from the original amount released.
  • The Fair offered a wide variety of free, family attractions including pirates, stunt performers, athletic dogs, a petting zoo, racing pigs, and a world record juggler.
  • The Colorado State Fair and Rodeo is honored to have hosted the Cowboys Kickin’ Cancer Fundraiser.  Funds raised help patients in their fight against cancer.  This year, the generosity of State Fair patrons helped to raise $45,000 for the St. Mary Corwin Cancer Center’s Patient Needs Fund.  This amount is $11,000 more than the 2010 total.
  • Over 70,500 people enjoyed the Colorado State Fair entertainment series.  Sold out events:  Big R presents The Band Perry & PRCA Ram Rodeo, Selena Gomez & The Scene with special guest Allstar Weekend, and the Car Doctor State Fair Demolition Derby presented by Big R.

  • Monty Bruce, from Minnesota, has been named the two-time winner of the Cow Horse Futurity.  This event showcases the horse and riders’ talent in three different events: cutting, fence work, and reining.
  • Nearly 440 commercial and food vendors sold products at this year’s Fair.  An assortment of delicious fair food was offered to tempt taste buds including maggot sandwiches, funnel cakes, and deep fried—well, lots of deep fried options.
