NOTICE OF VACANCY FOR MAYOR

The Town of Ignacio has a Vacancy for Mayor on the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees could make the selection at the April 9, 2013 Regular Board Meeting at 570 Goddard Avenue in the Abel F. Atencio Municipal Complex, in the Town of Ignacio, Colorado.

Every elector eighteen years of age or older, has resided within the Town limits of Ignacio, Colorado for a period of at least twelve consecutive months and has registered to vote with the Municipal Clerk at the Town of Ignacio or the La Plata County Clerk and Recorder, shall be eligible to apply for the office of Mayor.

The appointment of Mayor will be until the next Regular Municipal Election on April 1, 2014. Applications are available at the Town Hall at 540 Goddard Avenue, Ignacio, Colorado or can be obtained here.
 

 

The Town of Ignacio is a council-manager style of government. Our Town Board is made up of five Trustees, a Mayor Pro-Tem, and a Mayor, or seven in total. All of whom are elected individuals residing within Town Limits.

Regular Town Board Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month. Agendas are posted at Town Hall, this website, the Post Office, and the Ignacio Community Library. Occasionally, there is a need for additional meetings, these are also posted at the above locations. The agendas and approved minutes are posted on the website in a PDF format. You will need a free PDF reader to view them, please download one here if necessary.

 

The Town Board follows Robert's Rules of Order to maintain the flow and structure to meetings. If you are unfamiliar with Robert's Rules or would like a refresher, please check out these links, here and here. We encourage public participation in all our Board Meetings. From time to time there will be a need for a closed session for negotiations or similar. These will be noticed on the agendas per Colorado State Law and no actions (voting) can take place during these sessions. Any voting or other action must be done outside of the closed session.
