Citizens Police Academy

Citizens Police Academy

The Citizens Police Academy, established in 1997, was developed to enhance the partnership between community members and the Estes Park Police Department. Officers offer the Academy participants an excellent opportunity to learn more about the daily operations of the police department and experience conditions similar to the training they receive.

The 2014 CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY will be March 20 through April 21 (Mondays and Thursdays) 6-9 pm.  Classes explore any facets of the Police Dept., familiarizing participants with everything from crime scene investigation to how 9-1-1 works.  This class is great for individuals interested in the day to day functions of police work.  For information or to apply, call 970-577-3828 or email Commander Corey Pass at cpass@estes.org.  The deadline is March 14.

The Estes Park Auxiliary is also looking for individuals to fill vacencies.  Auxiliary Police serve as volunteer "eyes and ears", performing a variety of tasks including vehicle and pedestrian traffic control, investigations, fingerprinting, and administrative tasks.  Candidates must complete the Citizen's Police Academy, as well as 20 hours of Police Auxiliary training.  For more information call Commander Corey Pass at 970-577-3828 or email cpass@estes.org.
