My wife Linda and I came to Estes Park because of the incredible natural beauty of this Valley, for the wildlife, the hiking opportunities, and for the friends we have made.  We vacationed here for almost 40 years, and moved here five years ago as full-time residents.  Over the years we have climbed peaks, photographed wildlife, and hiked hundreds of miles of trails.  We don't expect to ever live anywhere else.

I spent my professional career with the DuPont Company, working as a chemical engineer and engineering leader for a variety of businesses.  I led teams that planned, designed, built, and operated plants that made new, environmentally-friendly products, using unique manufacturing processes.  The projects ranged in cost from $1 million to $100 million.  I traveled to, and worked in, 24 countries and 49 of the 50 states, and was privileged to work with and experience many different cultures around the world.  During my last eight years, I served as Business/Engineering Leader for a group of startup businesses, including DuPont's newest polymer, Sorona, made from corn.  That product is now replacing nylon in home carpets, and has a 50% lower greenhouse gas impact than nylon.  I also worked with Junior Achievement and Cub Scouts, and served on non-profit boards that worked with local, state, and federal officials to improve healthcare services and insurance coverage for children.

My volunteer work includes:

  • 3-1/2 years on the Estes Valley Planning Commission (Chair in 2010)
  • Board member, Community Resources Council (a local nonprofit)
  • Board member, Arapaho Estates Property Owners Association
  • Member, Association for Responsible Development (President in 2008)
  • Member, Friends of the Estes Park Museum and Foundation
  • Presentations on Public Advocacy (2011-2012)
  • Salvation Army Bellringer (2010-2011)
  • Member, Historic Preservation Ordinance Committee (2010-2011)
  • Member, Bond Park Master Plan Stakeholders Committee (2009-2010)
  • Graduate, Citizens Information Academy (2008)
  • Member, Estes Park Caregivers Support Group
  • Advising Habitat for Humanity and the Town government on environmental and capital project issues
  • Working with Trustees to develop improved Town Board meeting procedures
