The mission of the Office of Prevention and Security is to ensure a safe and secure environment for the citizens of Colorado from intentional acts of terrorism, accidental harmful events or natural disasters through the implementation of innovative prevention methods, coordinated response procedures, and effective recovery plans.

The vision of the Office of Prevention and Security is to achieve our mission through a collaborative, cooperative and interdisciplinary approach. This vision includes the accomplishment of goals and objectives that are focused on prevention and deterrence and that are reliant on information sharing, sound defensive strategies, and quality training.

We realize the success of terrorism prevention and preparedness hinges on our ability to share information with our international, national, state, tribal and local partners in the both the private and public sectors. We are committed to developing partnerships within our communities and have established a comprehensive action plan to detect, deter and defend our state against potential and actual acts of terrorism. OPS has created the Colorado Information Analysis Center (CIAC) and the Critical Infrastructure Protection Program as critical components of our plan.
