VISION
Colorado will establish a culture for positive aging addressing the needs, contributions and opportunities for all its older residents (ages 60+).
SILVERPRINT COLORADO is a call to action for partnerships between the non-profit community, state and local government and the business community to create and implement a strategic plan for positive aging in Colorado that is based on resolutions and recommendations from several key reports. This statewide initiative is designed to:
-
Serve as a framework to consolidate and integrate policy recommendations in aging from the 2004 Colorado Strengths and Needs Assessment, the State Four Year Plan 2007-2011, the 2005 White House Conference on Aging and other related statewide policy recommendations, such as those that came out of Senate Bill 173.
-
Address the fragmentation within aging services to reduce duplication, identify gaps, increase cooperation and consolidate efforts in order to maximize the ability to comprehensively and equitably address aging issues in a way that benefits seniors and their families, employers, etc., and makes cost-effective use of resources.
- Provide a clearinghouse for a wide range of materials and information about aging that will be of value to advocates, policymakers and professionals serving older adults in Colorado. The clearinghouse will be web-based and is designed to let users browse or search for information by:
-
geographic location (state or national levels),
-
type of information (legislation, statistics, best practices, etc.) or
-
policy issue (e.g. Medicare/Medicaid, workforce, Alzheimer's disease).
GOAL
Silverprint Colorado is spearheaded by a group of Colorado delegates from the 2005 White House conference on Aging. The goal is to create and action plan for addressing aging issues statewide.
Silverprint Colorado is organized into a central executive committee and five interdependent working groups:
- Long-term care
- Transportation
- Professional Training and Public Awareness
- Health& Wellness
- Civic Engagement
Go to www.silverprintcolorado.org to view the activity that has been developed to coordinate these five areas of work. If you would like to add something or participate in one of the working groups, please email jamie.malone@state.co.us.
