XML stands for “Extensible Markup Language.” XML is a set of rules for setting up your sales tax return in a format that will be readable by our tax accounting system. You will send the file to the department through a secure Web site. Then the file and all your tax data will be go directly into the department's accounting system. XML is similar to the Streamlined Sales Tax forms used by other states. Your sales tax data in this format must be tested and approved by the department prior to using it.
