Tax Distribution Process "Show and Tell"
The Department of Revenue, Taxpayer Service Division holds a meeting and presentation twice a year for local governments to discuss state tax processing operations; timelines for distribution of state-collected taxes to local governments; and the department's Online Local Government Sales Tax Report System which is tailored to the taxes of each local jurisdiction.
The meeting is a great opportunity to open the lines of communication between the department and local governments. Staff from the state Taxpayer Service Division's Local Government Unit explain the work involved to get tax payments to each local jurisdiction every month. Those who have attended think the meeting is "very informative," "helpful -- especially getting to meet the people (at the state) I rely on for help," "questions were answered fully," "better understanding of systems," and "I should have attended this years ago."
The "Show and Tell" slideshow is available here in Acrobat PDF format. If you have already attended this presentation but it has been a while since your last session, we recommend you sign up again to vist the Department of Revenue and learn of new services the department provides to local governments. Local governments are encouraged to contact the Local Government Support Unit to sign up for news alerts via email.
